Mulled wine

Spread some festive cheer with this warming mulled wine drink, flavoured with citrus, pomegranate, Mediterranean spices, and honey.

MULLED WINE

1 bottle (750ml) merlot or good quality red wine

1 orange, thinly sliced

1 lemon, thinly sliced

1 whole stick cinnamon

1 vanilla pod, split

5 whole cloves

5 cardamon pods

5 star anise

4 tablespoons pomegranate arils

2-3 tablespoons raw honey, to taste

  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan.

  2. Bring to a simmer over low heat. Simmer for 20 minutes, strain and enjoy warm.
